Arsenal legend Patrick Viera is in line to become Moses Simon’s new coach at Nantes.
Viera was relieved of his role as Nice coach last Friday after the Ligue 1 outfit lost its fifth game on the trot.
The 44-year-old is however now favourite to take charge of a fellow Top-flight side Nantes.
If offered the job, Viera would succeed Christan Gourcuff who was fired on Tuesday following Sunday’s humiliating 4-0 home loss to lowly Strasbourg.
And according to L’Equipe in France, the 1998 World Cup winner Vieira has been earmarked to replace him.
Former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc has also been linked with the Nantes job.
However, ex-France and Paris Saint-Germain coach Blanc is understood to have turned down an approach by the Loire-based club.
Senegal-born Vieira won three Premier League titles and three FA Cups in nine year with Arsenal before leaving for Juventus in 2005.
The 44-year-old has been widely tipped to return to the Gunners as their manager one day.
