WAFCON 2022: Nigeria battles Cameroon in World Cup decider

Nigeria are through to the quarter-finals of the WAFCON 2022 after finishing second in Group C.

The nine-time Champions trashed Burundi 4-0 in their final Group C game at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Sunday.

It was their second victory at the ongoing tournament, after beating the Mares of Botswana last Thursday.

Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 25th minutes. Her second goal of the tournament.

Peace Efih made it 2-0 three minutes later, before Uchenna Kanu scored the third goal a minute later.

The Falcons went into the break with three goals advantage, but Kanu scored her second and fourth goal of the game immediately after the restart.

Randy Waldrum’s tutored side will face Cameroon on July 14 for a semi-final spot.

A win will guarantee Nigeria a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.
