WAFCON: Oshoala not bothered with Banyana Banyana hype

Asisat Oshoala says the Super Falcons are not bothered about the hype around their rivals, South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

The Falcons and Banyana will meet again in the Group C opener of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Monday.

South Africa have won two of the last three meetings between both sides, including a shocking 4-2 win in Lagos last year.

Desiree Ellis’ side truly are one of the most improved sides on the continent and many expect them to give the Falcons a good run again.

Speaking ahead of the game, Oshoala said, the Super Falcons are solely focused on the game, and not predictions from fans and pundits.

“We have a very good Group, an opportunity to qualify for the next round, but sometimes football isn’t about what you see alone,” the Forward offered.

“A lot of people have talked about South Africa, of course they are a very good side, but this isn’t about old glory or past records.

“Many expected us to win, but we lost to them to and now people are saying they are the best side, but let’s see. It’s okay for people to talk.”

“We just have to look at ourselves and approach the game with the right mentality,” She told NFF TV.
