Nigeria U20 WNT, the Falconets, failed in their bid to win the WAFU B U20 Girl’s Cup, losing to bitter rivals Ghana on Saturday.
The Falconets at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi lost the final 3-1 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
Prior to the game, Falconets had won four previous games, scoring nineteen goals and conceded none.
Ghana got off to flying start and deservedly went in front on 39th minute, although from the penalty kick converted by Stella Nyamekye.
The hosts were four minutes away from winning glory when Flourish Sabastine scored the leveler for Falconets.
The late equalizer sent the game straight into the penalties, and the Ghanaian team held their nerves to win 3-1.
