Coach Nduka Ugbade has stated that the failure and subsequent elimination of Nigeria at the ongoing WAFU cup tournament in Porto Novo has set Nigerian Football back by at least two years.
Ugbade speaking in a chat with brila.net said the failure of the team means a lot would have been lost with the development of the current team and subsequently Nigerian Football with players now missing out of what would have been platforms to better develop and exhibit their trade as professional Footballers been the U20 AFCON as well as the FIFA U20 world cup.
“An opportunity to be seen again beyond the U17 and those that are young that never had the opportunity to make the U17 but makes the team great player to have the opportunity of been seen is totally removed. In our own case, we are going to lose two years because another qualifier will be 2022.”
