WAFU: Golden Eaglets qualification in jeopardy after 1-1 draw with Ghana

Nigeria’s cadet team, popularly known as Golden Eaglets were held to a 1-1 draw by the Black Satellite of Ghana in their final group game at the ongoing West African Football Union (WAFU) B Tournament in Lome, Togo.

The Fatai Amoo-led side scored first in the 77 minutes when Joseph Arumala put them ahead from the penalty spot.

Their lead was cut short 6 minutes from time, when goalkeeper Destiny Emuwahen committed a foul inside the box, as the Ghanaians got the equalizer.

The result means Nigeria will have to wait for the outcome of the last group match between Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana on Tuesday to decide their next round qualification.

A win for the Ivorians will seal qualification for the Golden Eaglets, but a draw will see Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire make it into the semi-final.
