Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum analyzed the opportunity to test his players against Canada in a international friendly and insists the result isn’t the most important factor.
Waldrum said two test games against the Olympic champions is a good way to prepare the team for the forthcoming African Women Championship and the FIFA World Cup, but he won’t focus on the outcome of the games.
Canada won the first meeting 2-0 on Saturday, and both side will square up for the second leg on Tuesday.
In his post match presser, Waldrum said he’s delighted to see the girls test their abilities against one of the best teams in the world.
He added that, he’s satisfied with quality of play than the result.
“This is part of the process to get to where a team like Canada or a top team in the world is at,” Waldrum mooted. “The result is not as important as the quality of play.”
“It’s great for us, because we are right in the middle of our World Cup qualifiers.
“We already had two rounds . Now we are getting ready for the final round in the African Cup where we hope to advance, so I think we have to play this kind of teams.
“Canada is one of the best in the world and we want to be in that category, so we need to play in this kind of competition, get exposed and learn from that.
“We showed we can play also, we would have been talking about different game, if we had taken our opportunities in the first half , but we are coming into the elite category,” He concluded.
