Super Falcons Head coach Randy Waldrum has explained why Ashley Plumptre was left out of the Super Falcons squad for the second successive game.
The Leicester City defender was expected to be involved in the final Group C game against Burundi on Sunday but was left out completely.
Speaking after the game, Waldrum said the defender who also missed the 2-0 win over Botswana was preserved for the quarter-final game against Cameroon.
“She’s fit and ready to play, it is my job to protect the players and ensure they are in top shape.”
“She trained yesterday and she will be available for Cameroon.” He said.
The English-born sustained the injury during the opening day defeat against South Africa.
