Lobi Stars defeated Rangers 1-0 to win a back-to-back game for the first time in this season’s Nigeria professional football league season.
The Kabir Dogo side went into the Wednesday match at the Aper Aku stadium at the back of their narrow win away at Dakkada.
Still basking in the euphoria of the away win in Uyo, Lobi Stars played in full confidence and gave Rangers problems all through the game.
They should have taken the lead in the 4th minute when Sani Mohammed broke away from the left side and delivered a cross to onrushing Ossy Martin who failed to tap the ball into an empty net.
Lobi created their second chance of the game moments when Sani Mohammed sent a perfect ball to Chinonso Okonkwo, but the attacker was let down by his poor finish.
The Pride finally broke the deadlock on the 22 minutes, Ossy Martins headed home an Ebube Duru’s cross for the only goal of the game.
After the goal, a few other misses ensued and the goal hunger from Lobi Stars withered down as the scoring zeal diminished but Rangers failed to take advantage of the situation till the end of the first half hostilities.
Rangers mounted pressure on Lobi Stars in the second half when Moses Tsehuan came in to replace Ichull Lordson in the 82 minutes and eventually wade off and all the forays of Rangers.
Lobi Stars almost got a second goal in the 86 minute, a quick reversal found Ossy Martins who bravely took a solo effort in the middle of a pack of defense players of Rangers and dribble his way through but his final shot at goal was block out by Rangers defense.
Further attempts by Rangers to equalized proved abortive as the center referee ended at 90+3.
With this victory, the coach Kabiru Dogo tutored lads are 40 points on the Log and moved up to 7th place ahead of Rangers.
