Watford eyes Nigerian youngster Ike Ugbo

Newly promoted English Premier League side Watford are interested in signing Nigerian youngster Ike Ugbo from Chelsea.

 

Reports from UK media claimed that the Hornets have opened talks with Chelsea over signing the young striker in a £5 million deal.

 

Ugbo is currently on loan at Belgium club Cercle Brugge where he has scored 16 goals in 32 appearances.

 

The Belgian had an option to make the deal permanent, it is understood that the player is keen on a return to England with a chance of playing in the premier league.

 

Watford identified the 22-year-old as one of the players that could strengthen their squad ahead of the next season and It is believed initial discussions began earlier this month and another meeting is scheduled within the next few weeks.

 

Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, Belgium club Genk, and Ligue 1’s Monaco are also said to be interested in the striker.

 

Ugbo, who has been at Chelsea since he joined their Under-10s side, still has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
