We are a better team with Onuachu — Southampton boss Nathan Jones

Southampton boss Nathan Jones believes the club made the right investment by signing Paul Onuachu.

Jones who is under fire from fans of the club following the team’s recent wobbling form, insists Onuachu will make the difference at St. Mary’s this season.

The Saints are battling for their lives, and must start picking points to avoid dropping to the Championship next season.

The poor form prompted the club to sanction an £18million move for the Nigerian with 16 goals in 19 starts this season.

Paul Onuachu and fellow new signing Kamaldeen Sulemana were handed their debuts off the bench at halftime, with Jones encouraged by their cameos.

“Onuachu gave us an impetus and we looked better, put more balls in the box and were a better team,” Jones said after the player made his debut at Brentford over the weekend.
