Coach Bala Nikyu said he is very happy to see his side score four goals against a poor Sunshine Stars side on Sunday in the NPFL.
The experienced gaffer opined that the number of goals scored by the team could play a huge factor in the race for the CAF Champions League ticket.
Nasarawa United trashed Sunshine 4-0 at Lafia Township and the goals were enough to keep them second on the table ahead of Kano Pillars and Enyimba.
He said: “In football, you cannot predict before the game. As far as this game is concerned, it has gotten to a crucial stage, where a goal is as important as gold. So 4 goals is a massive haul for us. And if not for the chances we missed later in the game, it could have gone up to 6 or 7”.
On the result, The former National team coach said, the result was the true reflection of his side performance and he wants them to keep it until the last day of the campaign.
”We drew them in the first round and expected a good match”.
“For now, we are playing for the fans but at the same time, we are not playing for the fans. My reason for saying this is that we need to go and represent ourselves first by winning, then the fans will be happy”.
