We have no football philosophy in Nigeria— Ugbade

We have no football philosophy in Nigeria— Ugbade

Golden Eaglets head coach Nduka Ugbade said Nigeria has no clear developmental strategy and there is a need to create one.

The new Golden Eaglets boss stated this while speaking to www.brila.net, following his appointment with the Nigeria Football Federation.

Nduka noted that Nations of the world are who truly interested in football are building clear football ideologies and Nigeria can’t afford to be left out.

“In Africa, except for two or three countries. We don’t have a developed football philosophy and Nigeria does not have a philosophy.” He told www.brila.net.

“So what we want to do is to introduce it to the youths, is the philosophy and then we can now spread it across the country.”

“It not like we used to have in the past, we have to work with the players. Of course, the formation will be there, but it’s the philosophy that guides and determine the formation.”

He added that Nigeria has to go back to what makes the country successful over the years and combine it with modern ideologies.

“The components of football development are no longer found in our society. Most of the pitches are not there.”

“The small pitch where we normally play 4 against 4, 3 against 3, 3 against 5 with rubber balls are no longer available. Those places have been covered up with houses, schools, and hotels.

“The issue is that we have to go back to those days where we produced so many stars.”

“We have to employ the science of football, football is digital now and not an analogy, so we have to help the players with modern facilities.” He concluded.
