Abia Warriors coach Imama Amapakabo said his side should have scored more goals, despite beating Kano Pillars 4-1 on Sunday.
A brace from Obioma Chukwuemeka and a goal each from Godwin Obaje and Daniel Wotlai secured the impressive victory for Abia at the Okigwe township.
In his reaction to victory, Amapakabo said his players executed his game plan perfectly and insists that they should have scored more goals on their day.
“It’s not every day you get the chance to beat a big team like Pillars 4-1, we planned for this game and we understood their plans,” Amapakabo said in his post-match Presser.
“I’m a coach who doesn’t go into a game believing that we can score a certain number of goals, but on a day that it works out like today, we should go ahead and score 50. We had a couple of chances we could have converted.”
“Our first four games when we started the season were difficult for us, but despite the defeats, I think we created more chances in the game, but I kept telling my players that the goals will come through.”
Following the victory, Abia Warriors moved to 10th on the log and are seven points off joint leaders Kwara United and Rangers.
