Head Coach of Wydad Casablanca, Houcine Ammouta said the CAF Champions League second-leg match with Rivers United will be interesting.
Ammouta also attributed his side’s 2-1 first leg defeat to Rivers United to the poor condition of the turf at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
Wydad scored first, before Rivers United netted twice to take the game 2-1.
The second leg is scheduled for next week in Morocco and Ammota said they’ll be ready to take their pound of flesh, adding that they aren’t ready to relinquish their crown.
“The first goal that was scored I can’t judge if it was offside by my position. When we go back home we watch the camera, that is when I can make a judgement about the goal.
“We were affected by the soil and texture of the field and it didn’t allow us to play a good game. We created many scoring opportunities but we never used them, we controlled the game very well.”
“We will have a very interesting match in the second leg and we are going to prepare adequately for it,” he said.
Wydad Casablanca won the CAF Champions League crown last season, beating Al Ahly 2-0. They host Rivers United at Mohammed V Sports Complex.
