We’re the Underdogs! Eguma Targets CAF Confederation Cup Upset

Stanley Eguma says Rivers United are the “underdogs” in a “difficult” CAF Confederation Cup group that also houses 2010 winners FUS Rabat and Club Africain, who were 2011 Runners up.

The Nigeria side secured a group phase ticket to the second tier of the continent’s club competition after a 2-0 aggregate win over Rwandan side, Rayon Sports.

United, who are Nigeria’s only surviving club in this season’s CAF Club competition are in group A along with FUS Rabat, Club Africain and Kampala CCA.

Reacting to the draw held on Wednesday, Eguma told brila.net that as Nigeria’s only representative, United are condemned to ensure the club survives the group rounds.

Eguma hailed the quality and pedigree of the North African teams in the group, and describe Uganda club, Kampala CCA as a good side.

Rivers United kick off their campaign at home against Kampala CCA on 12 May.
