Britain’s Laura Robson has faced many challenges during her career but the former British No 1 had to contend with a unique competitor on Thursday.
Having come through the early rounds of the Kurume Cup in Japan, Robson was pitted against Rika Fujiwara for the last-16 clash.
Not content with exerting herself on the court, Fujiwara, who is ranked No 864 in the world rankings, decided to fit in push-ups between points.

Fujiwara’s antics drew the attention of American tennis star CoCo Vandeweghe on social media during Thursday’s tie.
Vandeweghe tweeted: ‘Push up game strong for two sets.’
Former junior Wimbledon champion Robson replied to the World No 19: ‘Honestly she did more push-ups in the second set than I’ve done in the last year.’

Fujiwara’s bizarre tactics did not pay off, however, as Robson romped to a 6-1, 6-3 victory to book her place in the quarter-final.
World No 218 Robson defeated Miharu Imanishi 4-6, 6-0, 7-5 on Friday to continue her winning run in the tournament.
