Former Super Eagles Captain Austin Okocha has revealed the major reason Nigerian footballers don’t announce their retirement from professional football early despite the obvious need for it.
In a chat with brila.net Okocha stated that a lot of Nigerian footballers cannot retire despite the obvious signals they get from their body due to old age because they have to justify their fake ages.
”Sometimes you don’t have to blame them, because whenever you wake up is your morning, and I pity some of them, that’s why some of them cannot retire, they want to justify that age,” the former Bolton Wanderers Captain told brila.
”Some of us retired at the 28, some can’t retire at the age of 24, that’s why they are still playing but, some of them, they reduced up to ten years and so, I mean it’s hard, but what do we do? ” Okocha concluded.
