Why I decided to sign for Watford ahead of Burnley and Southampton – Okoye reveals

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye revealed he had offers from other English clubs, before settling for Watford.

Okoye, in interview with Transfer market stated that Southampton, Burnley and Crystal Palace made contact with his management, before he agreed to joined Watford.

The 22-year-old Nigerian international signed five deal with the Hornets, but won’t join his teammates, until 2022-2023 season.

“My management had been in contact with several clubs since the beginning of this year.

“Southampton, Burnley and Crystal Palace were also after me and were in talks with my management. But when you get an offer like Watford’s, you just have to do it.

“Watford convinced me with club boss Gino Pozzo: the talks and the trust they have in me as number one for the Premier League and the Championship.”

Okoye is currently in Super Eagles camp, preparing for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape.
