Former Nigeria’s WNT assistant coach Ogbonda Whyte has described Nigeria’s semi-final defeat in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations against Morocco as hard luck.
Nigeria lost in the semi-final of the WAFCON via penalties to hosts Morocco on Monday night.
The defending champions were reduced to 9 players, Halimatu Ayinde (48) and Rasheedat Ajibade (71′) both getting their marching orders after respective VAR checks.
After regular time with the score tied as 1-1, the game proceeded into Extra-time and with no further goals scored, the game was decided on penalty lottery.
In his chat with Brila.net after the game, Ogbonda Whyte stressed that the Falcons eventually got undone by the red cards.
Whyte added that the Falcons were unlucky not to have come out with a win after putting in such a spirited effort for large spells of the game, despite the sending offs.
