Wikki Tourist head Coach Usman Abdallah says his side was lucky to defeat high flying Rivers United on Wednesday.
Before the match , Wikki Tourists had failed to win any of their three games this season – the club’s worst start to a NPFL campaign since 2012/13.
Chinedu Udeagha scored the match winner as his 29th minute free kick was enough to secure their first maximum points of the season.
Wikki Tourists however missed numerous chances to double their lead, but did just enough to hold on for all the points and hand Rivers United their first defeat of the season.
In his reaction to the result, Abdallah said his side was fortunate to win the game and lucky not to pay for their misses.
“We won the game in the first half. I expected a lot of goals may be two or three in the first half but unfortunately we missed some chances and we didn’t get too much of the ball in their eighteen yard box.
“So we tried to do that in the second half which we did but we squandered a few chances there but it’s football, that’s how it is.
“We are lucky we got that first goal and we bagged in the three points. We are happy with that, ” He said.
