Deontay Wilder knocked Luis Ortiz out, cold with a devastating right hook in round seven of the 12-round heavyweight title bout on Sunday at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Ortiz it had appeared was ahead on the scorecards, picking points off the WBC heavyweight champion, but a moment of viciousness from the 34 year-old Wilder sent the Cuban crashing on the canvas and was counted out.
Wilder improved his stats to an impressive 41-0-1, 40 KOs.
The Bronze Bomber told Sky Sports: “These guys have to be perfect against me for 12 rounds. I just need to be perfect for two seconds and I proved that.
“I saw he was tiring, got my range and then bam – good night.”
He told US broadcasters FOX Sports: “Next up is Tyson Fury and it is scheduled for February. Then after that I want a unification bout. We need one name, one champion, one face. It’s too confusing for the fans.”
