Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has reaffirmed his ambition to win their remaining games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria revived their qualification hopes with a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali last Friday, thanks to a brace from Victor Osimhen.

The win moved them to six points in Group C, but South Africa leads the table with ten points.
Chelle emphasized his game-by-game approach, making it clear that all focus is on securing three points against Zimbabwe before looking ahead.
“I talked to my players and I told them I want to win every game, so I’m focused on the next game which is against Zimbabwe and after the game we can think about the next game.
“But now I just want to talk about the Zimbabwe game which is the most important for my team.”
The Super Eagles boss expressed his pride in the team’s performance against Rwanda but stressed the need for consistency.
“I’m proud of what my players did in Rwanda, it was a very difficult game, but they did the job,” Chelle stated.
“Now, we need to be focused on this second game because it is the most important one right now.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria has history on their side, having never lost a competitive game against Zimbabwe (4W, 3D).
Zimbabwe sit at the bottom of Group C with just three points from five matches and are yet to register a win in the qualifiers.
“We had a good training session yesterday, and we will go to the pitch again today to prepare for the match. It will not be easy because Zimbabwe have a good team, good players, and a good coach,” he said.
Chelle also praised Nees’ tactical approach and warned that Nigeria must be at their best to avoid any surprises.

A victory on Tuesday moves Nigeria to nine points, and puts them firmly back in the race for a World Cup spot.
