Woman of the match award excites Ajibade

Match winner Rasheedat Ajibade won the first Woman of the Match award at the ongoing 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Ajibade made the difference for the Randy Waldrum’s side in their quarter-final meeting with Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Stadium on Thursday.

The Athletico Madrid’s attacker netted the only goal of the game as the Falcons defeated Cameroon to book a place in the semi-final and a world cup ticket.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Ajibade said she’s not in Morocco for individual accolades, but to help Nigeria win her 10th continental title.

She later dedicates the award to her teammates and the coaching crew.

“I dedicate this trophy to my entire team. These girls are just fantastic. Without them, I will not be here before you with this reward,” Ajibade said at the post-match presentation.

Ajibade and her teammates will now take on hosts, Morocco for a place in the final of the tournament.
