World Team Table Tennis: Quadri upbeat Nigeria will go far after beating Turkey

Nigeria Number one Tennis player, Arunna Quadri has revealed that the team’s intention is to go far in the World Tennis tourney in Sweden after recording their first victory against Turkey.

Quadri defeated Ibrahim Gunduz 3-1 (11-7,5-11,11-4,11-6) in the first match of the championship in, Sweden, to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead over Turkey.

Senior player Segun Toriola, also made it a 2-0 lead following a hard-fought 3-2 win over Turkish Yigenler Abdullah on Sunday.

The team will also battle other group foes; Slovakia on May 1, Bulgaria on May 2 and Australia on May 3.

Speaking to brila.net, Quadri explained that the first win is a morale booster for the team that won silver at the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Therefore, the 29-year-old Tenni star believes the that Nigeria intends to qualifier from the second division to the championship division at the Table Tennis championship in Sweden.

Nigeria represented by the Commonwealth Silver winning quartet of Aruna Quadri, Segun Toriola, Bode Abiodun and Jide Omotayo

The World Team Table Tennis tournament will end on May 6.
