Rivers United head Coach, Stanley Eguma admits his team was not good enough over the two legs against Young African of Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter final.

Eguma has tendered an apology to fans for the team’s ouster from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Young Africans eliminated Rivers United in the quarter final with a 2-0 aggregate win, a win secured in the first-leg match in Uyo.

The battle between the two in the return leg ended goalless at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam, on Sunday.

“We are using this opportunity to apologize to Nigerians, who have relied so much on us and have so much hope in us being the only Nigerian team in the continent, next time we are going to be better.

“Young Africans are a good side, they deserved to go through and I wish them the best of luck in their future engagements,” he said.

Despite the disappointing exit, Rivers United can still finish the season on a high as they are very much in the race for the NPFL title and the Federation Cup.
