Venezia wins the race to bring David Okereke back to Italy

Newly promoted side Venezia have won the race to sign striker David Okereke from Club Brugge, according to Sky Italia.

The forward is surplus to requirements and Club Brugge wants to cut their losses and allow him to leave this summer.

Okereke signed for Club Brugge from Spezia for €8 million-plus bonuses in the summer of 2019, but he has struggled to impress the coaching staff.

The 23-year-old scored four goals in 25 Jupiler Pro League games last season and has featured this season at all.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, Venezia has now reached an agreement to sign Okereke on loan with the option to buy at the end of the season.

Sampdoria is also interested in signing the player, but reports claimed he’s heading to the newly promoted side.
