2018 FIFA WCQ: Super Eagles will give 100% to qualify for world cup in Russia – Akpeyi

Nigerian Goalie and Chippa United no. 1 goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, has told reporters that he and his Super Eagles teammates are going to give 100% on Saturday, 07 October to qualify for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Table toppers, Super Eagles of Nigeria have assured qualification into the biggest football showpiece if they beat Zambia in Uyo come Saturday.

The Super Eagles are currently on ten (10) points from four games, followed closely by Zambia who is on seven (7), while Cameroon is third with only three (3) points in Group B where Algeria is last with a single point.

Daniel Akpeyi who missed the last encounter due to injury is back with a bang and had a stealer of a game as Chippa United came back with one point away to Golden Arrows last Saturday.

“I am grateful to God Almighty for my quick recovery and I want to thank Super Eagles Medical Team and our Physiotherapists at Chippa United for a job well done. I recovered quicker than initially anticipated,” said Akpeyi who missed the first three league games of the season, the first one due to suspension and two due to injury.

“I am feeling good since coming back to the team. I am focused because and have challenged to do better than I did last season, and help the Team. Football is about teamwork, and all the guys are pulling their weight which augers well for the Team,” he said.

Talking about the job at hand, Akpeyi said they expect a fight from Chipolopolo of Zambia who with a win also stand a chance to qualify for the showpiece in Russia if they win their last two games, “We have come this far and now with only a point to qualify we must give 100%. We must give our all and with the nation behind us, we can,”

“Zambia will also fancy their chances and will throw everything to fulfill their dream of playing in the World Cup. I believe though, in my teammates, I believe in the Super Eagles.

“We are not going to leave any stone unturned on Saturday. This game as big as World Cup final to me and I am sure I speak for all my teammates and Nigerians in totality,” added Akpeyi.
