Nigeria duo of Aruna Quadri and Olajide Omotayo were eliminated from the ITTF World Tour Qatar Open men’s singles event in the first round.
Omotayo suffered defeat in the hand of the Oman Open champion – Lin Yun-Ju of Chinese Taipei after a close contest.
The Asian star overpowered the Nigerian youngster who was not ready to lose without a fight with a 8-11, 6-11, 6-11, 5-11.
Quadri on his part lost to Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro, also in the first round of the tournament.
The Africa number one ranked player who recently returned from injury was defeated in another battle as the Brazilian won the encounter by 8-11, 9-11, 11-3, 10-12, 6-11.
