Nigeria women’s senior team defeated Senegal 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-22) at the 2021 African Seniors Nations Championship in Rwanda on Sunday.
The head coach of Nigeria women’s senior team, Samuel Ajayi told newsmen after the match that the players played according to the match plan.
Nigeria takes on host, Rwanda in their second match on Monday by 12pm at the Kigali Arena.
Speaking after the game, Head coach Samuel Ajayi said, he’s delighted to start the tournament with a victory.
“I’m so excited that the players played according to plan and we thank God that everything played out well for us, bearing in my that the Senegalese came to Lagos in 2019 and beat us and that defeat is in our mind.”
“That’s the reason we came out today and fight. Again, it was the first match in the tournament, so we need the victory to boost our confidence.”
Against the hosts, tomorrow, we will build on this victory and hopefully we will carry day.” He said.
