2026 WCQ: Zimbabwe Star Munetsi identifies Weakness in Super Eagles

Zimbabwean midfielder, Marshall Munetsi emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the Super Eagles’ tight schedule when the two teams meet on Sunday.

The Super Eagles recently played a 1-1 draw against Lesotho on Thursday, having had less than 48 hours between their arrival at the camp and the match.

Despite the challenging schedule, the three-time African champions departed for Rwanda on Saturday, gearing up for the Sunday game against the Warriors of Zimbabwe at Huye Stadium, Butare.

Munetsi acknowledged the Nigeria’s unfortunate timing but remains optimistic about Zimbabwe’s chances to upset them.

“It’s going to be a good challenge against Nigeria and I’m sure it will be a game of fine margins,” Munetsi told the Herald.

“They played on Thursday and didn’t have much time to recover, so we can use that to our advantage.

“Obviously the team has big-name players, but even then, if they don’t have time to recover and all the travels, it might be difficult for them to adjust. We just need to be confident and have a good game plan for us to get maximum points,” He said

Zimbabwe held Rwanda to a 0-0 draw in their opening fixture in the qualifiers at Huye Stadium, Butare.

The Warriors will host the Super Eagles at the same venue on Sunday.
