7 goals in 5 matches: Osimhen continues impressive run of form for Napoli

Victor Osimhen saw action for Napoli in their second game of the Group C UEFA Europa League against Spartak Moscow at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Thursday.

After scoring six goals in his last five games, Napoli boss Luciano Spalleti decided to rest the forward by dropping him to the bench.

Napoli went ahead inside the opening 11 seconds when Eljif Elmas slammed home the ball from inside the penalty area.

It went from good to bad for Napoli after 30 minutes as Mario Ruiz was sent off for a bad tackle on former Nigerian international Victor Moses.

However, the Serie A leaders managed to go into the halftime break with a slim advantage.

Victor Osimhen was introduced into the game in the 46th minute for Andrea Petagna, but it was the Russian who turned the tie around, scoring three times in 45 minutes.

Spartak Moscow equalized few minutes into the second half after Victor Moses beat Napoli defenders and set up Quincy Promes to tap home the ball.

It became 2-1 to the visitors in the 80th minute, thanks to a goal from Mikhail Ignatov.

Spartak Moscow went down to ten-man two minutes when Maximiliano Caufriez was given his marching order for fouling Victor Osimhen.

Quincy Promes scored his second of the game in the 90th minute to make it 3-1, but there was still time for Victor Osimhen to pull one back for the Luciano Spalletti’s side in the 90+4 minute.

The defeat means Napoli is currently sitting at the 3rd spot on the table with just a point after two games.
