Akwa United Coach Relishes Picking Point Against Bendel Insurance

Akwa United Coach, Deji Ayeni says picking a point away from home against Bendel Insurance is a fair result.

Bendel Insurance who are top of group A saw their lead cut as the Promise Keepers snatched a point in the 1-1 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Wednesday.

The visitors clawed their way back into the game through Cyril Olisema’s clinical finish in the 34th minute, cancelling out Imade Osarenkhoe’s goal, just six minutes in.

The score draw means Bendel Insurance remain unbeaten after 11 rounds of matches, and stay top of group A on 25 points while Akwa United is third with 19 points.

In his post-match interview, Ayeni admitted that it was a tough game for the team, but feels satisfied taking a point from the road game.

“We came here fully prepared and with the determination to pick three points, but at the end of the day it’s one point that we got and I think it’s a fair result considering the fact that it was a tough game,” the Akwa United Coach remarked.

Akwa United return home where they’ll next face Enyimba in a Matchday 12 fixture, this weekend.
