Alex Iwobi scored Arsenal’s equalizer on 90+4′ and the winning penalty as the Gunners came from behind to defeat Bayern Munich 3-2 on penalties in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old, who came on as a substitute for Mesut Ozil in the second half, cancelled out Robert Lewandowski’s 10th minute penalty.
Arsenal trailed for over 90 minutes before Iwobi headed an Aaron Ramsey cross to give Arsene Wenger’s men a breather.
The game proceeded into penalties; the ABBA format.
David Alaba, Renato Sanches and Juan Bernat all missed for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
On the other hand, Aaron Ramsey stepped up after Alaba’s miss to give Arsenal the lead.
Egypt’s Mohamed El Neny missed his kick while Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi converted.
It was Emiliano Martínez’s save (of Juan Bernat’s kick)that ensured, the Nigeria International’s kick won the shootout to settle what was a psychological battle for Manager Arsene Wenger.
