Henry Onyekuru has confirmed Arsenal have made an opening bid to sign him from KAS Eupen.
The 19-year-old’s current contract includes a £6.8 million release clause but a potential move to Arsenal could be complicated by work permit issues.
Onyekuru has only just earned his first call-up to Nigeria’s senior squad, where he playing alongside current Arsenal star Alex Iwobi, having scored 24 goals in 41 appearances last season, finishing as the joint top scorer in the Belgian top flight.
‘I am waiting and working towards it and we’ll see how it goes after the [Nigeria] qualifiers,’ he said.
‘Its a good feeling for a club like #Arsenal to make a bid for me, this is due to my hard work in training & games.’
Last month, the forward confirmed that he will switch clubs this summer.
‘I have made my decision to leave. I have already agreed with Eupen that I am joining my new club after this season,’ he said.
