Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare delivered a dominant masterclass in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday night, scoring twice and providing an assist as Ajax Amsterdam demolished 10-man FC Midtjylland 6-1 away in Denmark.
The 25-year-old Super Eagles forward opened the scoring in the ninth minute, converting a delivery from Oscar Gloukh to give the Dutch side an early lead.

Fellow Nigerian Friday Etim equalised for the hosts in the 28th minute, but Arokodare restored Ajax’s advantage seven minutes into the second half with a powerful finish from Abdellah Ouazane’s delivery.
He then turned provider in the 59th minute, setting up Owen Wijndal for the third goal as Ajax ran riot. Substituted in the 70th minute, Arokodare watched his teammates complete the emphatic victory.
The performance marked another outstanding contribution from the tall forward. He now has five goals and two assists in his last four appearances, underlining his sharp form in both domestic and European competition.
This season Arokodare has been a revelation for Ajax since arriving on loan. Across all competitions he has registered 12 goals and three or four assists in 16 appearances, establishing himself as a key attacking threat for the Eredivisie side.

His physical presence, aerial ability, and clinical finishing have made him a focal point in Francesco Farioli’s system, delivering crucial goals including the winner against AZ Alkmaar and match-winning contributions against Atalanta.
Arokodare joined Ajax in the summer of 2026 on a loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers that runs until the end of the 2026/27 season and includes an option to buy. After a difficult spell at Molineux following his move from Genk, the Nigerian has rediscovered his best form in Amsterdam and quickly become a fan favourite.
Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff has confirmed that the financial terms of the permanent deal, reported around €20 million, have already been agreed with Wolves, along with salary details.
Ajax only need to activate the option. Arokodare himself has expressed openness to staying permanently, stating he loves the club, the fans, and the environment in Amsterdam.
His future looks bright. With consistent goal contributions, growing importance to Ajax’s ambitions in the Eredivisie and Europe, and the club prepared to make the move permanent, Arokodare is positioning himself as a long-term asset in Amsterdam while keeping his Super Eagles prospects strong. The Wolves loanee continues to prove that his best football is still ahead of him.
