Atletico’s Diego Costa goes M.I.A

With reports that Diego Costa would be disciplined internally following the incident with the referee that led to an eight-game ban, Costa has decided not to train with his Atletico Madrid team-mates, despite the club confirming he is not suffering from an injury.

The striker was handed an eight-game ban after receiving a red card for a foul-mouthed rant at the referee in a loss to Barcelona last week.

Costa is unhappy that the club have not defended him over the eight-game ban, and also that Atletico have opened a separate case against him.

After the red card, the club announced they would also be opening misconduct proceedings.
