Awaziem confident of Super Eagles AFCON chances

Super Eagles’ Chidozie Awaziem says the mood in the camp is positive, despite the late withdrawal of some players from Afcon squad.

Nigeria’s preparation for the tournament became harder following the late withdrawal of Victor Osimhen, Emmanuel Dennis, Leon Balogun and Shehu Abdullahi.

The duo of Paul Onuachu and Oghenekaro Etebo are also sidelined with injury and won’t be there to help the team.

Despite all the challenges, Awaziem who is now expected to partner William Troost-Ekong in the defence, says the team is working hard and focused on doing the job without their colleagues.

“It has been a wonderful atmosphere in camp. Everyone is preparing with the few players in camp. Training sessions has been good,”Awaziem told the Super Eagles media.

“Everyone is giving their best, the coach is doing a good job. We are hoping to get more players in camp , so that we can begin preparation for the AFCON properly.

“It’s the new year and everyone is positive, we believe we can achieve something great this year.” He said.
