Awaziem Expects Improved Super Eagles against Mali

Defender Chidozie Awaziem expressed his elation after Nigeria’s performance against Ghana, emphasizing the significance of delivering their best amidst the intense rivalry between the two nations.

The clash at Stade de Marrakech saw Nigeria secure their first win over Ghana in eighteen years.

Goals from Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman put the Super Eagles ahead, but a late Jordan Ayew penalty saw the match end 2-1.

“It was a good outcome for the Super Eagles. We know the importance of the game, the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana so we prepared, came all out,” Awaziem told theNFF TV.

“It was a good preparation game for us. The victory keeps our mentality stronger so we focus now on the next game against Mali.

Awaziem partnered debutant Tanimu Benjamin and Seyi Ajayi in the defense and would have kept a clean sheet but for the penalty to Ghana.

“I’m happy to be part of this team because I want to help my country, I want to represent my country and also to help my career as well.

“I have been with this team for a long time so we know the feeling to be in the national team and it was a good outcome for us. I am very happy to be among the guys because everyone is so professional and wonderful players.”

Next for the Super Eagles is another friendly against Mali on Tuesday and the CB expects some improvements.

“The same outcome against Ghana. We’re coming back stronger and try to correct our mistakes from that game, so we can get stronger and better,” He concluded.
