Taiwo Awoniyi says he’s delighted to get on mark in the German Bundesliga and he’s looking forward to scoring more goals this season.
Awoniyi netted his first goal of the season for Union Berlin in their 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen at home on Saturday.
The former Liverpool Star got Union Berlin to flying start when he opened the scoring in seventh minute.
However, they were pegged back as the visitors fought back to snatch a point, no thanks to Moussa Diaby’s equaliser five minutes later.
Speaking to the Club’s website, Awoniyi said he’s happy to start the season with a bang and want to carry on doing the same.
“For me, I think it is what I have waited for, for many years,” Awoniyi told Bundesliga’s official website.
“I am really happy I can achieve it this year and I am back again in Berlin.” he said.
The 24-year-old is expected to lead the attack for Union Berlin when they travel to Hoffenheim for their second league game on Saturday.
