Awoniyi nets in Nottingham Forest defeat to Fulham

Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi scored his second premier league goal of the season for Nottingham Forest on Friday.

The Nigerian forward netted in the 2-3 defeat to Fulham at the City Ground Stadium.

Awoniyi scored in the 11th minute, nodding home Ryan Yates’ flick from Morgan Gibbs-White’s corner.

It was his second since signing for the Steve Cooper’s side from Bundelisga outfits Union Berlin in the summer.

The goal however wasn’t enough as Fulham fought back to go 3-1 up before Nottingham Forest pulled one back.

Tosin Adarabioyo scored the equalizer for Fulham in the 54th minute, before Joao Palhinha and Harrison Reed added the second and third for the Cottagers.

Lewis O’Brien then capitalized on a poor clearance from Tosin Adarabioyo and reduced the deficit for the hosts.

It proved to be a consolation as the visitors held their nerves to secure a vital victory on the road.

Nottingham Forest remains 19th on the table with six losses from seven games, despite signing 21 players in last transfer widow.
