Nigeria and Yeni Malatyaspor Midfielder, Azubuike Okechukwu says compatriot and Trabzonspor Forward, Anthony Nwakaeme is the best player in the Turkish Super Lig this season.
Nwakaeme played a key role as Trabzonspor ended a 38-year League title drought this season.
The 33-year-old forward contributed 11 goals and 10 assists to power Trabzon to a brilliant League campaign and near misses the last two seasons.
In a chat with www.brila.net, Okechukwu, a League champion last season with Istanbul Basaksehir said, his compatriot has been an important player in the team and by far the best player in the division.
“For me then we waited for long time, like them ( Trabzonspor ) also, but they haven’t won it for like 30+ years.”
“They are a big side, the feeling is different when you win it. You walk in the streets and people are hailing you.
“For Tony (Anthony Nwakaeme), it’s a bit different, they have a fantastic team this season. They are the best in the league. Tony is also the best player in the league and I know they love him so much.
“They have a statue of him and they respect him a lot, I think he’ll be happy and proud of himself,” He said.
