Boniface on target as Bodø/Glimt trash Linfield in the UCL

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface scored again in the UEFA Champions league for Bodo/Glimt to send them through to the next qualifying round.

Boniface scored one of the goals as the Norwegian champions defeated Linfield 8-0 in their UEFA Champions League second round qualifying tie on Wednesday night.

After a first-leg 1-0 defeat, the Norwegians did more than enough to turn the tie around, scoring eight times in front of their home fans.

Hugo Vetlesen scored the opener for Bodø in the 17th minute before Boniface got his name on the score sheet, when he converted a penalty in the 21st minute.

Bodø were awarded the penalty after first-leg hero Kirk Millar was sent off for handling the ball on the Linfield goal-line.

Further first-half goals from Ulrik Saltnes and Amahl Pellegrino put the hosts four up at the break before substitute Runar Espejord (2), Pellegrino and Alfons Sampsted completed the rout.

Bodø progress to face Lithuania’s FK Zalgiris Vilnius in the third round of Champions League qualifying.
