Victor Boniface is excited about his partnership with Victor Osimhen for the Super Eagles’ friendly match against Saudi Arabia in Portugal.

The 2-2 draw against the Green Falcons at Estádio Municipal de Portimão on Friday, saw the two strikers started a game for Nigeria for the first time.

Although Osimhen was substituted early due to injury, Boniface said he was pleased to play up front with the AFCON qualifiers top scorer.

“I feel good playing with him (Osimhen), really happy playing together. It is a long journey and I feel proud,” the 22-year-old said.

“It was a good game. Unfortunately, we did not get the result we hoped for but it is a training game preparing us for the tournaments ahead of us.

“We knew we were playing a good side with a very experienced coach but it is preparation so we keep working.”

The Leverkusen forward was involved in Nigeria’s equalizer before being substituted.

With Osimhen doubtful for Monday’s tie against Mozambique, Boniface could start alongside either Terem Moffi or Sadiq Umar.

The game is part of the preparations for 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho in November.
