BOXING: Zolani Tete sets new world record with stunning 11 second KO over Siboniso Gonya

Zolani Tete retained his WBO bantamweight crown with the fastest ever world title KO.

The 29-year-old landed a stunning blow on Siboniso Gonya’s chin at the SSE Arena in Belfast inside the first bell.

Gonya received medical treatment inside the ring before returning to his feet, requiring an oxygen mask.

After the bout, Tete said: “I knew Gonya wasn’t going to last. I won in the first round!

“My trainers are the ones doing the job behind the scenes, I would like to thank them.”

Tete then set his sights on Ryan Burnett, adding: “I believe he stays here, this is his hometown, so we should see who is king of the bantamweights.”

Despite Tete’s stunning victory, Carl Frampton was the main talking point on his return to the ring.

The Jackal edged out Horacio Garcia by unanimous decision to delight the local fans.
