CAF CC: Kwara United score 3 goals in 15 minutes to beat holders Berkane

Kwara United have one leg in the Group phase of the CAF Confederation Cup, after beating defending Champions, RS Berkane, 3-1 in the first leg of the final preliminary round in Lagos.

The Harmony Boys had to come back from a goal down to snatch victory against the Moroccans.

Berkane drew the first blood through Cheik Qattara in the 8th minute, and they protected the lead heading into the break.

After the restart, Kwara United upped the tempo of their game and were almost rewarded instantly when Wasiu Jimoh’s shot missed the mark, and crashed off the woodwork, for the first goal mouth action of the second half.

Eventually, they got a well deserved equalizer in the 73rd minute, through Taofeek Ahmed.

Jimoh, who netted a brace against AS Douanes in the previous round, then put the host in front for the first time, with a goal in the 84th minute.

To wrap up the fine second half performance, Barnabas Daniel sealed the victory with the 3rd goal in the added time to give the NPFL side a huge advantage in the tie.

RS Berkane will host the second leg, next weekend in Morocco and the overall winner will advance to the Group phase of the tournament.
