Enyimba FC secured a last-minute win over Orlando Pirates to confirm their place in the last eight of the CAF Confederation Cup.
A 95th-minute strike from Cyril Olisema was enough to hand the Nigerian side a hard-fought win at the Aba Township Stadium on Wednesday.
The People’s Elephants went into the game knowing that nothing short of an outright victory would be enough for them to reach the quarter-finals.
Enyimba survived an early scare as the visitors struck the post just seven minutes into the game.
The hosts became more dominant, but the unbeaten Bucs defended with numbers at the back in order to secure the needed point.
Enyimba had chance after chance to break the deadlock but Anayo Iwuala, Victor Mbaoma, and Samuel Orok couldn’t find the target until Olisema saw his effort hit the back of the net the added time.
The Fatai Osho led side however finished as the group winner with points (9), same as Orlando Pirates but Enyimba had better head-to-head results over the two meetings.
Both teams will have to will Friday to determine who their quarterfinal opponents will be during the draws.
