Calvin Bassey guides Ajax to Dutch Cup final with a win over Feyernood

Calvin Bassey helped Ajax Amsterdam reach Dutch Cup final after a hard fought 2-1 win over Feyernood on Wednesday.

Bassey tasted action for just 16 minutes after coming on for one of the goalscorers Davy Klassen.

The 22-year-old completed 10 passes, and committed 4 fouls before the final whistle.

It was his fourth appearance in the cup, and 35th for Ajax across all competitions this season.

The game was fiercely contested and the referee had to stop it at some point. An enormous amount of pyrotechnic material and smoke bombs were ignited in one of Feyenoord ‘s sections which affected some players on the pitch.

When play resumed Ajax came out on top, with Dusan Tadic scoring first for Ajax while Santiago Giminez equalized for the home side.

Ajax took the lead again in the 51st minute. Thanks to a goal from Davy Klaassen who later made way for Calvin Bassey after sustaining head injury.

The Dutch forward was struck in the  head with an object thrown by some section of the fans.

Ajax advance to the cup final and will face PSV for the cup, just like last year.
