Ahead of the highly anticipated Old Firm derby between Glasgow Celtic and Rangers this Saturday, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has voiced his concerns regarding the performance of Rangers’ striker Cyriel Dessers.

Sutton emphasized the importance of Dessers being at his best for the crucial match, citing the striker’s tendency to miss opportunities.

Sutton’s remarks come as the two Glasgow giants are separated by just three points in the league table, with Rangers poised to level on points with Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side should they secure victory in the upcoming derby clash.

Speaking to Sky Sports via Rangers News, Sutton highlighted Dessers’ missed chances throughout the season and stressed the significance of clinical finishing, especially in such pivotal encounters.

Sutton acknowledged the Forward’s impressive tally of twenty goals across all competitions but underscored the need for the striker to capitalize on crucial moments in the upcoming derby clash.

“The point about Dessers, and he has banged on about it all season, he does miss opportunities,” he told Sky Sports via Rangers News

“He had two or three opportunities in this game to go first time. Most natural finishers would do that. He is always trying to chop back.

“We know how big the game is next week, everybody knows how big the game is next week. It can depend on a moment like that on your striker being decisive, whether Rangers win or lose the game.”
