Dakkada FC Secures Dramatic comeback Win over Kano Pillars

Dakkada FC fought back from two goals down to beat Kano Pillars 3-2 in the NPFL on Sunday.

Dakkada FC came into match on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Heartland in midweek, while Pillars were league leaders  following the victory over Sunshine Stars.

Emmanuel Soccoia also returned to the Pillars bench after serving a one-game ban for criticizing a Match Referee.

Kano Pillars started on the front foot and opened scoring after ten minutes of play with a penalty from captain Rabiu Ali after Dakkada defender Francis Onyedika handled the ball in the box.

Gerome Henchong headed home the second for the visitors in the 30th minute after connecting with a teasing cross from Auwalu Ali.

The home side responded almost immediately and reduced the deficit eight minutes later, when Kakoete Udo set up Christian Nnaji who beat Kano Pillars goalkeeper Idrissu Ibrahim with a low drive.

Pillars went into the break with a slim advantage, but the score was levelled just three minutes into the second 45 minutes.

Phillip Archibong restored parity for Dakkada with his first goal of the season, assisted by Christian Ekong.

The comeback was completed with 14 minutes left to play as substitute Isaac George converted a penalty for the hosts after Pillars’ goalkeeper brought down Ekong in the box.

Pillars however searched for the equaliser but the home side held on for the maximum points.

The victory moves Dakkada to 10th with 17 points, although with a game in hand, while Kano Pillars relinquished their first position to Kwara United.

Pillars remains second with 23 points from 13 round of matches.
